Voodoo Doughnut: “The Magic is in the Hole.”
Visiting Voodoo Doughnut is almost like an initiation into the Portland, Oregon culture, you must go! With three locations, Voodoo Doughnut is by far the most unique doughnut place you will ever visit. Voodoo is infamous for creating doughnuts with crazy toppings and flavors. The original Voodoo shop has amazing stain glass windows that are uniquely decorated as well as a one of a kind logo! With a strong following, the OG Voodoo Doughnut shop always has a long line with excited costumers, but trust me, this is all a part of the experience and it is well worth the wait! During my visit to the OG Voodoo I ordered a box that comes equipped with four doughnuts. It was a hard decision, but I ended up ordering the “Marshall Mathers,” “The Old Dirty Bastard,” “The Loop,” and “The Double Bubble.”
The “Marshall Mathers” is an amazing combination of vanilla icing embedded with fresh M&M’s. “The Old Dirty Bastard” is an absolute monster! This doughnut is covered with chocolate icing, peanut butter, and Oreo cookies! “The Loop” is a breakfast masterpiece. This vanilla icing beauty is topped with Fruit Loops… Yes I said it, Fruit Loops! Now we get to my absolute favorite of the bunch, “The Double Bubble.” This doughnut is covered with Bubble gum icing and topped with an authentic Double Bubble tootsie roll. This was definitely the most unique doughnut I’ve ever had and Voodoo definitely found the perfect ingredients for creating a bubble gum icing.
In addition to Voodoo’s amazing doughnuts, they also have amazing prices! I purchased all four of these delicious and humongous doughnuts for just $6.68!
If you’re in Portland, #YouGottaEatThis!
P.S. Voodoo Doughnut prioritizes sustainability. The shop’s napkins, cups, and the wax paper that are inside of the doughnut boxes are all compostable while the doughnut box itself is 100% recyclable.
