The Matador
I recently got a new job that allows me to make happy hour times! There are so many places I want to try out, but this was my first stop.
I met up with an old friend this week at The Matador. They have amazing margaritas and sangria, but this happy hour doesn’t have deals on drinks – they have amazing deals on food and they are huge portions.
We did order some blackberry margaritas and the red sangria, which was a peach and mango infused red wine and brandy mixed with sparkling orange soda – so bomb.
Each of the items below were only $5 each. We definitely ordered too much food…

The Spicy Fried Calamari was perfect and served with garlic-cilantro aioli
I would just order this and be a happy camper.
These chicken quesadillas were huge for a happy hour entree.
This was their Texas sized nachos. Came with cheddar, monterey jack, black beans, pico de gallo, guacamole, and cilantro-lime sour cream
I don’t think we even finished half of this.
Basically, this is the place to go for delicious food on a tight budget. I just wish they had cheaper margaritas during their happy hour times. One of the best parts is that if you missed their 4pm – 6pm happy hour time, they have another one from 10 pm – 1am.
They have a few locations in Portland, Washington and Idaho, but I went to the one in East Portland.
