Yardbird Southern Table & Bar Debuts in Vegas

Yardbird Southern Table & Bar Debuts in Vegas

On January 24, Miami restaurant group 50 Eggs celebrated the grand opening of the company’s first non-Florida property, a second location of the popular Yardbird Southern Table & Bar, at The Venetian in Las Vegas. Questlove manned the decks for the opening party, reaching straight inside my brain for all my favorite guilty pleasure jams of the Eighties and Nineties — oh, and the Thirties too, because he mixed two copies of “Sing, Sing, Sing” by Benny Goodman as pink feathered showgirls posed for pictures in front of him. He set the tone for a new spot that is cultivating a warm and friendly vibe.

Thanks to 50 Eggs’ invitation, I was able to get a small peek into the impressive sprawl of food options inside The Venetian and sister property The Palazzo. Yardbird fits nicely into the collection, which has super high end options as well as casual food court choices for those who don’t want to splurge too much on a meal; it’s probably right in the middle price-wise.

Yardbird should quickly become a popular spot for brunch, lunch and dinner, with fried chicken shrimp ‘n grits and other Southern staples that are good for pretty much any time of day. The menu, which also includes hearty fare like steaks, should have wide appeal to visitors from all over. Of the bites I sampled, my favorites were a fried green tomato topped with pimiento cheese, tomato jam, thick cut bacon and frisee for a playful taken a BLT, and a decadent remix of a Snickers bar with chocolate ganache, peanut butter and mille feuille, a delicately crunchy wafer.

Stay tuned for more standout bites from 24 hours in Vegas.
