#ThirstyThursday: The Blind Dragon in LA offers Asian-themed Cocktails & Karaoke
Welcome to #ThirstyThursday, where our resident spirited soldier Ru Porter highlights some of the doper libations to hit the beverage industry. With our thirst for knowledge, our love of food and cocktails, you can count on YouGottaEatThis.com to school you on what to eat and drink at select hang out spots. Since our loyal readers also appreciate music and nightlife, we’ve partnered with Blind Dragon in Los Angeles to introduce an Asian-inspired food & drink guide. Cheers to that!
A high-end Asian-inspired lounge hidden on The Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, The Blind Dragon’s name is a Chinese twist on prohibition era illegal establishments known as a ‘Blind Ping’ or a ‘Blind Tiger’. The atmosphere evokes a modern risque speakeasy, or as the owners claim, a hidden joint from the law where anything goes. Young socialites can enjoy drinks and live DJ sets, with the option to rent one of four state-of-the-art- karaoke suites for solo performances and rollicking group sing-a-alongs- all in complete privacy, offering an innovative nightlife experience.
According to The h.wood Group’s Food & Beverage Specialist, “the cocktails at Blind Dragon were influenced by 80s pop culture. From the Kato-tini to the Miami Vice, the names reflect some childhood favorites from that decade, while the recipes themselves draw influence from the Tom Cruise movie cocktails.
Meanwhile, the appetizers served is a fun kitschy partnering of dim sum & pizzas.
Prices: The food ranges from $10-24; drinks are $15 and up. All cocktails are available as punch bowls ($300) and Karaoke suites go for $150 per hour.
Address: 9201 Sunset Blvd, West Hollywood, CA 90069.
