Alabama’s Jay Dot Rain Makes His First Trip To L.A. For Great Bites.

There’s nothing like a first trip to a place as highly noted for its sunshine and amongst other things. We had the honor of getting insight from artist Jay Dot Rain, straight from Alabama on his very first visit to Los Angeles. A long place from home, while promoting his upcoming project The Dixie Renaissance he made a few real connections that led to a great experience, future brand collaborations and in this case the most important, food spots we MUST try out.

No worries, Jay Dot Rain has a great love of food and even taps at Krispy Kreme Doughnuts for a cool spot when performing his WuTang sampled track Dozen. Yes, he gives out doughnuts while performing the song live. But on to where we need to go. Check out his top three spots to make your way to while you’re in the Los Angeles, California area.

California Fish Grill (First meal in LA)
On PlateCajun White Fish, Slaw and Fries

California Fish Grill, JayDotRain, Alabama, Los Angeles Restaurants, must stops in LA,

This dish was really delicious. I’m a seafood fan, so when my friends told me we were going to a seafood spot, I was instantly excited. The Cajun White Fish was good, but not filling (maybe because I was extra hungry after my flight.) Not too spicy, not too mild. The fries and slaw gave it a good blend as well.

El Taurino Mexican Restaurant
On Plate: Steak tacos and Nachos.

BY FAR MY FAVORITE MEAL. Mexican is my favorite type of food and “El T” as the locals call it, did not disappoint. Everything was good. First time tasting authentic Mexican tacos and they were so amazing. Add some red sauce for the extra kick.

El Pollo Loco Mexican Restaurant
On Plate: Pollo Bowl

Growing up, I’ve heard of El Pollo Loco a time
or two before, but once I passed by in traffic, I knew I had to make a stop. Dom Kennedy makes a line in his “Black Bentleys” song where he’s like: “I’d rather be home on Vernon, eating Pollo Bowls..” — I’d have to agree. it was very delicious. Comes with chicken, rice, beans, cilantro, and anything u want. Good and reasonably priced.
