8 Cocktails To Get You Ready For Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is all about gathering with friends and family to count your blessings, while enjoying food and drinks. But having a huge meal can often leave you feeling bogged down to the point where you the only thing you want afterward is a nap; so in an effort to keep the party going, here are 8 cocktails to get you ready for Turkey Day 2013. Whether you’re in the mood for a traditional mixed drink, or something more warm and inviting, these liquid-dessert inspired libations are sure to keep your spirits up this holiday season. Cheers!
2 parts Cruzan® Estate Diamond® Light Rum
1 parts Pineapple Juice
1/4 parts 2:1 Muscovado Syrup (combine 2 parts Muscovado sugar, 1 part water)
5 parts Hot Peppermint Tea
Combine rum, pineapple juice and Muscovado syrup in a toddy glass and stir. Slowly add tea to the glass and garnish with fresh grated cinnamon and stick.
DEWAR’S Honeysuckle Sour
1.5 oz. DEWAR’S Highlander Honey
.5 oz. Cointreau
.5 oz. fresh-squeezed lemon juice
.5 oz. fresh-squeezed orange juice
1 bar spoon sugar
Method: Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled 5 oz. cocktail glass. Garnish with orange zest.
Jim Beam’s Harvest Cocktail
1 1/2 parts Jim Beam® White
3/4 part DeKuyper Amaretto
1 part Funkin Pear
1 1/2 parts Fresh Pressed Apple Juice
1/2 part Egg Whites
Method: Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a slice of pear on the rim.
Jim Beam ‘s The Fig Thing
1 1/2 parts Jim Beam Black® Bourbon
1/2 part Harveys® Bristol Cream® Sherry
1 1/2 parts Fresh Lemon Sour
1 part Apple Juice
1 Marinated Mission Fig or 1 bar spoon of Fig Preserves
1/2 part Egg White
Method: In a mixing glass muddle the fig, add remaining ingredients and shake vigorously with ice. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with fresh ground nutmeg on top.
Kahlúa’s Pumpkin Martini
1 ½ parts Kahlúa Pumpkin Spice
1 ½ parts ABSOLUT Vodka
Method: Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with orange zest.
Sauza® Cranberry Margarita
For The Margarita:
1/2 part Sauza® Blue Silver 100% Agave Tequila
2 parts of Cranberry Puree
1/2 part JDK & Sons™ O3 Premium Orange Liqueur
For Cranberry Puree:
1 cup Fresh Orange Juice, about 4 Oranges
1 cup Sugar
1 16-ounce package of Fresh Cranberries
To make the Cranberry Puree: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the sugar in the orange juice. Add the cranberries and cook over low heat for 10 minutes. Set aside and let it cool. Blend cranberries in a blender, then strain to make the puree. In a shaker add crushed ice, 1 ½ parts of Sauza® Blue Silver, ½ part of JDK & Sons™ O3 Premium Orange Liqueur 2 parts of cranberry puree and shake to mix. Pour drink into a sugar rimmed martini glass.
Wild Turkey’s Smashed Pumpkin
1 oz Wild Turkey 101
1/4 oz almond liqueur
1/4 oz cinnamon schnapps
2 oz pumpkin pie filling
1/2 oz heavy cream
Method: Puree or froth pumpkin pie filling with heavy cream. Mix with other ingredients in a shaker with ice; shake well and strain into a martini glass.
Rim with crumbled graham crackers and a cinnamon stick; top with a dash of cinnamon or nutmeg.
William Wolf Pecan Bourbon Milk Shake
1 ½ oz. William Wolf
1 ½ oz. Rum
1 oz. Silk Pure Coconut Milk
½ Coconut Cream
1 oz. Papaya Juice
¼ oz. Banana Puree
Method: Combine ingredients, garnish with shaved coconut, banana slice and shaved pecans.
