Mispronunciations aside, quite a few of my fellow drinkers and bar buddies claim Schlafly’s Pumpkin Ale is THE pumpkin beer to try and I don’t judge them for it. This beer is the least “beery” of this little collection I’ve put together, forgoing the overarching alcohol taste in some of the consensus offerings. If you want pumpkin pie in beer form, go get this immediately. It literally tastes like a pumpkin pie that was made with a little less than average amounts of raw sugar, not the super sweet refined stuff. It’s mild, thick, creamy and perfectly balanced with a shockingly pleasant lingering finish that truthfully made me a bit nostalgic. I’ll be putting a few of these away for Thanksgiving dinner this year without a doubt. When you head to the store and have to ask if they have it, it’s pronounced shhh-laugh(like a joke)-lee.
